Erick Stakelbeck speaks to the failures of Obama’s “Muslim Outreach” on the Savage Nation – April 29, 2010

Robert Spencer discusses the “Stealth Jihad” methods of Tariq Ramadan on the February 3, 2010 broadcast of the Savage Nation.

Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch spoke to Michael Savage last night on the June 3, 2009 broadcast of the Savage Nation. They discussed the Jihadist attack by Carlos Bledsoe (aka Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad) on the Army recruiting center outside of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Sometimes Michael Savage gets the mood just right, and this is one of those times. He put together an audio collage at the beginning of his program that highlighted the greatness of our history and the shamefulness of our present.

This is Kent Eckeroth of the Swedish Democrats; the only party in Sweden willing to speak truth about Islam. They expect to win parliament seats in the next election for the first time. We need to support pro-freedom voices like this in Europe.

“We often hear an argument that Islamism exists, but also a moderate Islam. The question you should ask yourself is: was Mohammed a moderate or radical Muslim? Islam is no better than Mohammed and the Quran, and the Quran encourages violence against non-Muslims.”

You can go here to see where I encountered this same kind of “there are just as many Christian terrorist as Muslim terrorist” drivel.

FROM ME: Hi again Dean, you also said “some muslims take their religion to far and cause terrorism and same goes for christians”. NAME ME 3 “Christian terrorist” and I’ll name you three hundred convicted Mulsim terrorist after I prove that ones you …come up with are not even Christian at all, not even by name only. JESUS SAID “John 18:36 My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.” MUHAMMAD SAID “Ibn Ishaq: 992 – “Fight everyone in the way of Allah and kill those who disbelieve in Allah.” DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE???

FROM DEAN: yes but the muslims terrorist physically attack but the christians do it in a mental way to make their way to power. some christians, like muslims take things to far with their beliefs and make people insecure around them. some christians w…ill do anything in their power to make their message heard while others don’t mind if people aren’t christian. the muslims do exactly the same and in ways some muslims create cults just like some christians do. something that i have been learning is that people find it hard to accept others beliefs and ideas simply due to the fact that they are afraid of being wrong or that they are afraid of difference.

You can see the whole exchange between me and Dean (who’s goal is to be prime minister of New Zealand) here and the face-book page that is linked here.

Dean could not accept my challenge to name three Christian terrorist and I bet no one can. I have heard people try to say Timothy McVeigh was a Christian,, nope, he stated he hated Christians. Others have said the Columbine shooters where Christians,, nope, they also stated to hate Christians and investigation showed the was into anti-Christian occult writings and practices. Some have tried to say Hitler was a Christian, while it is true he was born a Roman Catholic (most Eastern Orthodox and Protestant Christians agree the RCC is not Christian) and Hitler said he was a Christian on his way up to power to appeal to useful idiot Christians, his later writings show he hated Christians and was not a Christian but an anti-Christian Occultist that even slept with Alice Bailey’s book The Secret Doctrine on his night stand. Others have even went so far as to say that many of the Post Office shooters where Christians,, well think about this,, if this where true we would have been saying “be careful or that guy might go Christian on you” instead of Postal.

The Other 911

Last year on September 11th I composed a memorial post, and then went browsing among all the other bloggers who had posted their own memorials. There were some excellent posts and photo essays, notably at Michelle Malkin, Dr. Sanity, and CUANAS, and all so much better than my own.

So this year I will do something different: I will commemorate the events of five years ago by revisiting events of 323 years ago. I refer, of course, to the other 9-11: September 11th, 1683, the day when an alliance of Christian armies led by Jan III Sobieski, the King of Poland, arrived at the Gates of Vienna.

Jan III Sobieski confronts Pasha Kara Mustafa at the Gates of Vienna
The Ottoman Empire had been expanding into Europe ever since Constantinople fell to the Turks, and even before that. Wherever the Muslim armies went, they plundered cities, took slaves, turned churches into mosques, and converted many thousands of Christian captives to Islam at the point of a sword.

The Sultan’s armies overran Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, and Serbia. They turned Protestant Hungary into a compliant vassal and made war repeatedly on Austria and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The Ottomans had designs on Vienna, since the fall of the city would open the way into the heart of Austria and the rich principalities of southern Germany.

The Turks besiege ViennaHaving failed to take Vienna in the siege of 1529, the Turks prepared a second attempt in 1683. Under the leadership of the Grand Vizier, Pasha Kara Mustafa, and with their Tatar and Malaysian allies, they made their preparations and fought their way towards the capital, overrunning Austrian villages and smaller cities in their path and taking many captives. As the Muslim hordes approached Vienna, King Leopold fled west with most of the citizens, leaving a garrison of about 11,000 soldiers and 5,000 citizen volunteers to hold the city against the Turks. The Viennese razed buildings in the area around the city walls in order to deny the enemy cover, and brought livestock and provender into the city to prepare for a siege.

On July 16th, 1683, the second siege of Vienna began. The tiny garrison in the city was no match for Kara Mustafa’s army of 140,000, but the Grand Vizier decided to starve the city into submission rather than attempt a frontal assault on its defenses.

One of the main reasons the Turks had had such success in the Balkans and Eastern Europe was that their Christian enemies were unable to unite against them. Since the Caliphate and the Ottoman Empire were one and the same thing, Islam experienced no such fractiousness, and it was a united horde that advanced inexorably through the mountain passes and across the plains towards Vienna.

Some people refer to the current war as the GWoT (Global War on Terror). Others call it WWIV (Norman Podhoretz). We at Gates of Vienna prefer to call it GIJ3W: The Great Islamic Jihad, Third Wave.
This conflict of cultures has endured for more than a millenium. The first wave began with the conquest of Mecca by Mohammed in 630 CE. It crested in Al Andalus (Moorish Spain) in 711, only receding in 1492 when Los Reyes Católicos entered Granada.

The second wave began when Osman raided Western Byzantium in 1299 and founded the Ottoman Empire. It crested during the reign of Süleyman I in the 16th century, and receded after the failure of the second siege of Vienna under Kara Mustafa in 1683.

From our perspective at the dawn of the 21st century it is hard to realize that a little more than three centuries ago the whole of Christian civilization was threatened. When the Turks stood at the Gates of Vienna it seemed that all of Europe would be overrun by the legions of the Prophet.

This war never ended. While many individual treaties were made between various states over the centuries, no truce was ever declared between Islam and the infidels, and no permanent peace was established (as General Gordon discovered at Khartoum in 1885).

So when did the Third Wave begin?

When will the Third Wave crest? And when will it begin to recede?

This video deals with the fact that Christian governments in the Crusader States of the Middle Ages protected the rights of their citizens and engaged in conciliar judicial process, while Muslim governments were despotic and based upon the absolute will of the ruler.

FOX NEWS – America is “under attack” by a non-violent “stealth jihad,” a panel of national security analysts warned in a new report that claimed fundamentalists are trying to bring Islamic law known as “Shariah” to the United States.

The report, sponsored by the Center for Security Policy and touted by a handful of conservative lawmakers on Capitol Hill Wednesday, said that the violent threat posed by Al Qaeda and other terror groups is outmatched by the threat from jihadists allegedly trying to change American society from within.

“This form of warfare includes multi-layered cultural subversion, the co-opting of senior leaders, influence operations and propaganda and other means of insinuating Shariah into Western societies,” the study said.

The report cited the Muslim Brotherhood as the most influential organization trying to achieve that goal, but expressed concern more about America’s vulnerability than any marquee successes by the so-called “stealth” jihadists.

“Just as we cannot say all Muslims hold a certain view based on the actions of a radical fringe … it would be unwise to discount the malicious intentions of those that wish to subvert American law,” Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., said at a press conference Wednesday.

The study urged government to be more vigilant by threatening Shariah-promoting imams with investigation and monitoring the contents of school textbooks.

The report cited as warning signs the deadly Fort Hood shooting as well as a recent case where a New Jersey judge rejected a woman’s request for a restraining order against her husband whom she claimed sexually abused her. In the New Jersey case, the judge ruled that the husband acted according to his Muslim beliefs; the decision was overturned in July by New Jersey’s Appellate Court.

“Still, the fact that such a reversal was necessary is instructive,” the Shariah report said.

FP: Throughout my life in academia, myriad volumes have passed before me that contained criticisms of Christianity, within which there were various mocking and ridiculing portrayals of its tenets and values etc. Your book doesnt mock anything, but just quotes Islamic sources and lets them speak for themselves. I think that it would be essential to have this book as a must-read in the curriculum for every introductory course for first-year students in the Arts in university. Why is it that it is a given that this would never happen? For instance, in many courses where the topic of 9/11 is raised, all kinds of readings are given out that blame the U.S. for being the victim in this terrorist attack. Why wouldnt they at least offer this book as an alternative explanation?

It is a given, of course, that this book would never make it on any curricula readings in academia, even in courses on Islam which profess to give all sides of the picture. Why?

Robert Spencer: Because the academic establishment the Middle East Studies Association is not interested in really giving all sides of the picture. Since the 1970s it has been dominated by Edward Saids view that any critical look at Islam or the Muslim world by Westerners was ipso facto racist and imperialist. This idea has coalesced nicely, of course, with the multiculturalist dogma that the Judeo-Christian West is responsible for all the evils in the world, and that those outside of and set against Western civilization can only be victims, never perpetrators…

Also, it is not unheard-of for outright Islamic apologists to occupy academic positions in American universities, and to present Islamic proselytizing material in academic settings. This is in part a manifestation of the general American ignorance of Islam. Universities hire Muslim professors in order to teach about Islam and the Middle East, and the other professors know so little about the subject that they cannot perform adequate peer review even if their world view would allow them to do so in the first place. The academic establishment has become so politicized that many professors of Middle East Studies are presenting as fact highly tendentious and apologetically motivated assertions about Islamic teachings and history, and their peers either dont know or dont care, or both.

In this study, newly translated into English, Bat Ye’or provides a lucid analysis of the dogma and strategies of jihad, offering a vast panorama of the history of Christians and Jews under the rule of Islam. A pioneer in a virgin field of research for which she coined the word “dhimmitude,” the author has included in this essential work a documentary section illuminating the decline of Eastern Christianity. In two waves of Islamic expansion the Christian and Jewish populations of the Mediterranean regions and Mesopotamia, who had developed the most prestigious civilizations of the time, were conquered by jihad. Millions of Christians from Spain, Egypt, Syria, Greece, and Armenia; Latins and Slavs from southern and central Europe; as well as Jews were henceforth governed by the shari’a (Islamic law). Knowledge of this historical background is essential in order to understand contemporary events and developments so that future challenges can be faced within a context of positive religious dialogue and reconciliation

The Crusades are much in the news of late. President Bush made the mistake of referring to the war against terrorism as a “crusade” and was roundly criticized for uttering a word both offensive and hurtful to the world’s Muslims. If it is painful, then it is remarkable indeed how often the Arabs themselves make use of the word. Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar have repeatedly referred to Americans as “crusaders” and the present war as a “crusade against Islam.” For decades now Americans have been routinely referred to as “crusaders” or “cowboys” among Arabs in the Middle East. Clearly the crusades are very much alive in the Muslim world.

They are not forgotten in the West either. Actually, despite the many differences between the East and West, most people in both cultures are in agreement about the Crusades. It is commonly accepted that the Crusades are a black mark on the history of Western civilization generally and the Catholic Church in particular. Anyone eager to bash Catholics will not long tarry before brandishing the Crusades and the Inquisition. The Crusades are often used as a classic example of the evil that organized religion can do. Your average man on the street in both New York and Cairo would agree that the Crusades were an insidious, cynical, and unprovoked attack by religious zealots against a peaceful, prosperous, and sophisticated Muslim world.

It was not always so. During the Middle Ages you could not find a Christian in Europe who did not believe that the Crusades were an act of highest good. Even the Muslims respected the ideals of the Crusades and the piety of the men who fought them. But that all changed with the Protestant Reformation. For Martin Luther, who had already jettisoned the Christian doctrines of papal authority and indulgences, the Crusades were nothing more than a ploy by a power-hungry papacy. Indeed, he argued that to fight the Muslims was to fight Christ himself, for it was he who had sent the Turks to punish Christendom for its faithlessness. When Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and his armies began to invade Austria, Luther changed his mind about the need to fight, but he stuck to his condemnation of the Crusades. During the next two centuries people tended to view the Crusades through a confessional lens: Protestants demonized them, Catholics extolled them. As for Suleiman and his successors, they were just glad to be rid of them.
